Tourism Insights Users Group (TIUG)
What is the TIUG?
The Tourism Insights Users Group (TIUG) is a quarterly hui that brings together practitioners, researchers, regional tourism organisations, central agencies, and industry bodies to discuss the latest developments in tourism research, data, and analytics.
The initiative was MBIE’s response to the sector’s demand for accessible data and insights, as identified during the 2019 Tourism Information and Data Hui. The TIUG officially came into being in 2022, shortly after the formal establishment of a tourism data team at MBIE.
MBIE holds a quarterly TIUG hui which offers:
- Updates on major tourism datasets, research, and analytical tools
- Presentations from across the tourism sector
- Opportunities to ask questions and discuss emerging insights
- A regular space for collaboration between government, academia, and industry
How can I join the TIUG?
Hui invitations and other updates are sent via the mailing list.
We welcome your presentations; get in touch if you can contribute.
